Serola Belt Pregnancy Instructions

How to Wear the Serola Belt During Pregnancy

Video Transcription

Raise one leg and locate the front leg crease. The bottom edge of the belt will go here. Find the middle seam of the belt and place it at the middle of your back. With the label in your right hand, hold the other end of the belt in your left hand, making sure to grip the upper edge of the belt and pull it close to your body.

00:38

Pull the label side of the belt firmly away from your body to achieve proper tension. While maintaining tension, pull the belt around and fasten. It is very important that this layer is snug so the joint doesn’t open up beyond normal.

00:55

Pull the elastic straps toward the front to comfort. This layer should not be too tight. If bunching occurs, tighten the first layer of the belt further. If bunching remains, loosen the elastic. There are actually two positions that are recommended for wearing a sacroiliac belt.

1:22

The upper position, which we just demonstrated, is used in most situations and the lower position, which is used when the baby moves low on the belly or when the symphysis, pubis, or hip area is the most uncomfortable.

1:37

The lower position is found by placing the upper edge of the belt at the front leg crease, so it is approximately a full belt width lower than the upper position. Or, you can place it anywhere in between the upper and lower position, depending on comfort.

1:54

Whichever position feels best, works best. As the belly grows, or the belt is brought into the lower position, the belt may no longer fit. To help with this, Serola Biomechanics has developed a belt extender that adds up to an extra eight inches and is much less expensive than buying a new belt.

And remember, it’s just as important to wear the Serola belt postpartum to narrow the hips and bring them back to normal alignment. You can order your belt and belt extender here.
